The presence of the new Android software indicated that these new handsets are no gimmick. Whilst the appeal is there for the millions of Facebook users, the fact that the manufacturer has used the latest version of Google's software shows us that the specifications, and no doubt the user experience of the HTC Salsa and the HTC ChaCha are nothing short of exceptional.
The HTC Chacha was launched alongside the HTC Salsa and, along with the INQ Cloud Q and Cloud Touch, is one of the first batches of Facebook phones. This is the new craze sweeping the mobile phone industry, with handsets that come with exceptional support for the popular online social network. While smartphones have for some time now come with Facebook support or integration these new handsets seek to corner a niche in the market for Facebook fanatics.
The feature that really strikes the Chacha out as a phone for Facebook users is its dedicated Facebook button. With this button you can more easily connect to the social network without needing to load the phones browser or dedicated app through the interface. Another way that this button can be used is in conjunction with the camera. After taking a picture or recording a video you can tap the Facebook button to quickly upload it to your profile.
The Chacha also comes with integration for other popular social networks besides Facebook, even though Facebook is the main focus of the phone. Like the Salsa, the Chacha comes with a 5 megapixel camera which includes an LED flash and geo-tagging. There is also video recording support and a secondary VGA camera for video calling.
While the Chacha and Salsa offer the same high degree of Facebook support their main differences lie in their physical design. While the Salsa is more of a full frontal touchscreen handset the Chacha has taken a physical form factor very reminiscent of popular BlackBerry phones. Other entertainment is provided with fantastic music and video playback support provided by the phone's proprietary media player and with microSD cards you can have over 32GB of storage space available.
The Chacha has a lot of great messaging and entertainment features but its main area of interest is undoubtedly its Facebook support, particularly its dedicated Facebook button. This phone is a must for all Facebook fanatics, making it much easier to update statuses or upload videos to the popular social network. It is also great for people who like to chat away on Facebook Chat, and its main benefit over its sibling device, the HTC Salsa, is the inclusion of a QWERTY keyboard making much easier to tap away a message. The Chacha has some excellent connectivity options on offer, including 3G and Wi-Fi, so that you will never be too far away from seeing what your friends are up to.
